It would appear that the Rams are now headed in the right direction with the hiring of Super Bowl LOSING coach Jeff Fisher, but I disagree. His coaching record, while definitely more favorable than Coach Spags, still leaves much to be desired. Sure he may have been the best to chose from, but was he really? The ex-Raiders HC Hue Jackson (not to be confused with Hugh Jackman) took a sorry azz Raiders team and got them to 8-8 while Fisher took a very talented Titans team and ran it into the ground, besides ruining Vince Young's career before it could even get started.

I truly hope that hiring Coach Fisher will get us back to the glory days and out of the glory hole days, but it is going to be a long arduous process that is make or break for me. Many Sundays have been wasted on the love of my life and I cannot take anymore terrible football from it. The other love of my life, the alive one, is getting tired of it too. Another failed attempt at winning Rams football could very well give me the impetus to break away from it once and for all. Which love of my life will win? Here's to both of them being here when the dust finally settles!

And Then There Were None...

No games, no GM, and no Head Coach. No penalties, no dropped passes, no stupid play calls, no half-filled dome with the other half filled with opponent's fanbases. All these things that defined our lousy season have now come to an end, and none to soon. I strongly hope that the next GM and HC make waaaay better decisions than the last set did, and that one of those decisions involves Justin Blackmon. A bigger better T.O. without the 'tude is a no brainer in my book.

IF I watch any games next year it will be great to see him gel with Bradford, opening up the box for Steven Jackson to tear defenses apart once again. And all this talk of trading Bradford, well, I want none of that either!

Horrible Again

Just a horrible horrible horrible display of football on Sunday, one that I didn't think possible after the horrible horrible display of football against the Seahawks the week before. What in the world was Coach thinking in this game? Its not Madden 12!!! The play calling in this game was just pitiful, as was once again the drive and momentum killing penalties that have plagued this team all season. How in the world we beat the Saints still just totally befuddles me, in fact I can't even remember right now how we did it.

I wrote previously that the acquisition of Brandon Lloyd was great sure, but that the guy would still drop a ton of passes and sure enuff the ones he miffed last week were just horrible. And when he does make them he seems to NEVER do it standing up - he kinda reminds me of the baseball outfielder who dives to make the catch when he doesn't need to. I really wish the coaches would remind him that YAC is waaaay more important than style, and that just because a pass doesn't need a spectacular move to make it doesn't mean he should let it fall to the ground. The guy is killing me with his ability to make the diving, stretching, contorting catch but don't you dare hit him in the hands. But I guess that when 60 percent of passes are dropped instead of 80, well, then it's acceptable.

Bench Jason Brown NOW!!! Replace Goldberg NOW!!! Them two are just atrocious. Goldberg got Bradford absolutely redrumed on Sunday, the worst one leading to a fumble after he got blown up within 1.5 seconds of dropping back to pass. There is no way to win like that, no way in heel. I'm tired of seeing our QB get slammed without any chance, I'm tired of seeing yellow on the field for the same stupid mental mistakes play after play. Barron is gone! Let him go please, he is the last person they should be trying to emulate. And now I'm gone, to San Francisco to watch our Rams kick the tarter sauce out of the Whiners. Well, unless someone out there wants to suffer for me...

Yup, I was wrong again. I think that from now on I will just say they will probably win or maybe even probably...not after they not only lost Salas for the season but also another winnable game. I do not believe that our ability to make no-name rookies seem like all-pros will ever lend itself to winning another game, and I do not believe that our starters dropping like flies year after year will ever win us another division even if we stop the aforementioned quality.

This team has been the same for so many years now it is ridiculous, and it just goes to show even more so that Kurt Warner should be a first-ballot HOF'er. Our team and the Cardinals have both taken a huge downturn after he left them in SB form, and he helped the Giants mold Eli into a SB winning QB. Bradford is going to be a great QB in this league, but even Dan Marino never won a SB. The way this team plays to lose is just sickening, and until the boneheads at the top figure out how to put a winning staff together we will always be on the wrong end of what is the greatest game in the world.

Won Down, Nine to Go

And what a WON it was! Geez it sure feels good to say that, and I must admit that I was not sure until about 15 minutes after the game was over that the Saints weren't gonna win. You know how it is with this team, somehow someway they would find a way to lose, usually by shooting themselves in the foot with penalties, dropped passes, turnovers, or horrendous play-calling but on Sunday there was none of that.

First play of the game SJ39 drops a pass right in his numbers and I thought "Here we go again." But then second play of the game SJ made a great play out of the flat, and third play he ran it right up their backs and I'm thinking maybe not again. Next two plays we go deep to Lloyd, which I think is two more times than we deep-ed it all of last year, and even though they were incomplete, they were barely incomplete so now my heart is racing and I was in pacing mode already. I could sense that things were going to be good with Coach being so aggressive so early on.

Then we hold them, the 62-points-last-week Saints vs us, the 57 points ALL YEAR SOSAR to a three-and-out and ultimately a scoreless first quarter and it all became clear to me. We were going to win!

I forgot about the officials though, and when they said that they had conclusive visual evidence that Salas stepped out of bounds on his great YAC attempt it brought me back down to earth. How they could see that is ridiculous. James Butler makes a stupid Personal Foul and Dahl jumps early and then we get a Delay OUT OF A TIMEOUT!!! Now I'm freaking out, for this is the definition of our season and we were gonna get blown out.

But it didn't happen. Despite Barron, er I mean Saffold and his itchy trigger feet and the officials and another dropped INT by Craig Dahl, Red Zone turnovers, dropped passes by Lloyd, and Drew Brees being on the other team, we still won. Our Defense played the game of their lives, so hopefully they have some left for the rest of the season. Chris Long is Chris "Everett" no longer after the way he just destroyed Brees, and I can't wait to see how the Lloyd/Bradford connection takes shape when Sam gets back this week.

The December game against the Niners here in Cali could very possibly be for first place and I got my tickets chillin on ice. The Niners look like a legitimate threat this year and it is going to be a fun rest of the season as long as the Defense keeps playing like this and if the Offense can catch up to them we will be looking at 10 in a row.

0-3 is not 0-16...yet

As you all know by know, the Rams suck this year. What you all may not know is that, well, ok so you know they suck REAL BAD!!! The good news however is that they can only go 0-3 once per year, but the bad news is they can continue to go 0-fer and end up tying the Lions for futility. EVERY STINKIN YEAR at this time I kick myself in the face for ponying up almost 4 bills to watch them on The Ticket, but this year it is especially hard since the expectations coming off 7-9 were very high.

Now 0-3 is not the end of the season by any means, it is an 0-3 that does not include any division games. My math is horrible, but if we just win all the division games and lose everything else we would finish at 6-10 and could still win the division based on head to head with the other 6-10 division team, whoever that may be this year.I am not throwing in the towel, but if we continue to take a bath I will need to trade my towel in for an automatic dryer!

What the Salas?!?!?

It appears that what we have been taught all of our lives about the preseason is being pounded into our heads: Don't get excited about beautiful preseason wins. After blowing through the preseason schedule like a hurricane, our team has suddenly began blowing like an onion ring fart. It stinks, and it hurts. I dont remember seeing Salas return punts during the preseason or even week #1, in fact I distinctly remember Norwood and Gibson among others, but not Salas. Maybe coach was trying a little misdirection, like "Ooooh they think Norwood is going to return punts this game but I'm gonna trick them and bring in the awesome punt-returner, secret weapon Salas. I'll show them!"

Yeah well, he showed them alright. Showed them what a stupid idea that was. Showed them the red carpet right into the endzone. Showed them that for the fifth consecutive season they dont mind starting 0-2, even though it was in front of the entire world on MNF and was the perfect stage to show that the Rams are back. Fumbles, penalies, dropped passes, and even more penalties do not show that to the world, but shows falsely that we are just the SOSAR. I know that we will probably still win the division by default since the only other choices are even worse than the Rams, but at least the coach could give the team the chance to win it outright by playing the players we need out there. First game inactives and second game actives just boggles my mind, and I'm not sure what to think at this point as to the direction coach is going.

THAT BEING SAID...I salute a huge "You're number one!" to the Giants for being such sorry azz cheaters. Faking injuries to slow us down? Are you kidding me? That was one of the most chickin **** things I've ever seen in an NFL game. Not only does this give me one more reason to totally despise New York teams, but it goes to show that we ARE a good team and that the Giants knew that they were very capable of being beat by us that night. Of course thay had no idea that Salas, or is it Salsa?, was going to be our featured WR at PR, or that Saffold would summon the ghost of Alex Barron and absolutely kill us on potential TD drives, or that Bradford hitting the WR in the hands or the numbers with that oblong leather thingy is counter-productive on our team.

All things being what they are, I guess we just have to hope that this coming Sunday against the Ravens will be a repeat of what a team way worse than us, the Titans, did to them: kicked their bahooty after the Ravens slew the mighty Steelers on opening weekend. No Amendola will again hurt us tremendously but we CAN win with Alexander and Kendricks and even Salsa playing the way they are supposed to and are capable of. Down go the Ravens, and GO RAMS!

So here it is! My 100th blog post of all time so please put your hands together for this great accomplishment and I truly do appreciate your support over the years.

I am so excited for this season, what with Marshall being HOF enshrined, and to get to hear him in the broadcast booth is just awesome. The man is truly a scholar of the game of football and he provides the most insightful commentary I have ever heard.

And FINALLY! We get to see our QB throw farther than 18 yards downfield and someone other than SJ39 run the ball with guts and authority in Cadillac. I truly think he will be the most important free-agent acquisition we made. Very sorry to see Vobora go, and now Massey, and especially now that we get to, er I mean HAVE to play against David two times this year.

It is going to be an eventful and successful year for the Rams in 2011-12 and I can't wait to get it started.

What Day is it Again?

So here it is nearly August and with only 3 days of over 100 degree weather so far this summer I am glad to say that, despite the relatively cold weather and my absence from Planet Rams being prolonged due to complications from surgery and this dag-gum medication, I am still hot as ever so sit down, shut up, and hang on to your laptop as I send you on a lyrical journey so profound that by the time you get done reading this sentence you too will feel like I should just start this whole thing over...so I will. Geez that was horrible!

Speaking of horrible...this lockout thingy has just about got me ready to go postal. I am very tempted to cancel my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket b4 they just decide to charge us anyway, and then I am going to sell all of my Ram's Memorabilia on eBay and Twitter and Facebook and...

Wait a minute. What's that? The lockout ended a few days ago? Well ruck me funnin! I had no idea, I guess this medication is stronger than I thought. Well great then! I guess I can keep my Sunday Ticket, and I don't have to sell my stuff on eBay and FaceTwitter and oh hell, is it time for football yet? It's time for my meds again, so sorry if I rambled. You know, its hard being on so much medication and in so much pain all the time, but at least from what I hear the NFL lockout thingy might soon be over!

This is so ridiculous. How can grown men possibly want to lose 9 billion dollars in revenue because they can't agree how to share 10% of it? I'm not sure if they will lose it all if there is a full-season lockout, but just the thought of it would be enuff to make me say to the other side: "Sure you can have an extra billion - we'll just have to scrape by with our 40% share." Really makes me mad when I hear them say that they need to be able to take care of their families "like they're used to doing." Are you kidding me? In this economy where most people are fortunate to still be able to provide for their families AT ALL, these clowns are holding out for an extra billion dollars. Not standing in line in the rain with 3000 other degreed job applicants to land a sales position at a local car dealership, but sitting in a luxury hotel with fresh hot coffee and donuts crying about a billion dollars.

Boo hoo hoo, you greedy sons of bitches. You should be ashamed of yourselves, with all the poverty and sickness and depair and self-inflicted loss of life that is engulfing the world right now while you sit there sticking out your chests, living off the money you made three years ago.

A LOT of other jobs are at stake if you don't play this year, and a lot of people who you can't even see will have their lives turned upside down if you keep up this crybaby attitude. I hope you all have to face the same fate as the rest of them do - unemployment, foreclosure, and hunger. Then maybe you'd just play some football. That's all you gotta do - just play football. I'm pretty sure your families will be ok without that extra billion.

No, really, my friend knows someone who has a baby named Jeebus. So they will hopefully not get upset that I attribute that sorry, pathetic, and horrendous performance to their son. Or is it a girl? Somtimes you just can't tell, you know? Kinda like how one week we get the Jekkyl and the next a Hyde out of the Rams and their stupid, ignorant, and underwhelming play calling and play execution. These guys make how much to play like that? And if you or I gave our bosses that type of effort on an as-frequent basis, we would be out of a job so fast it would make a cheetah seem slow.

With the talent we have on this team at QB and RB, we should have been able to kick the Seahags sorry ass D in the frickin teeth but instead we rolled over and asked them to pour a little sand on it while they were at it. An unbelievably poor and embarrassing performance by a bunch of overpaid self-absorbed athletes. Catch a ball thrown right into our hands? OOPS! Stop a QB who was 0-1 as a starter? OOPS! Almost as bad as naming your baby JEEBUS.

So here it is, time once again for the selection of the yearly overhyped vs underappreciated Pro Bowl selections and what do ya know - we are barraged with the OverHyped once again. For starting QB on the NFC side do we have Sam Bradford, who has started every game this season and set the records for Yards and Completions by a Rookie, with one game remaining mind you, and has his team one win away from a division title after a 1-15 season? NO! Do we have Matty Ice, who has started every game this season and led the Falcons to the best record in the NFC? NO! What about the World Champion Drew Brees? Nope! So who does this fine nation of dog lovers chose? The #1 dog lover himself, Michael Vick, who has NOT started every game this season and has team right where they were before!

How could this happen, you ask? Well, I guess our fine President, Barack "Can't-Prove-He's-An-American-Citizen" Obama has a say in Pro Bowl voting too. How nice of him to take time out of his busy vacation schedule to call the Eagles and give them props for allowing a convicted felon a chance to right himself and become a "respected" member of society. Amazing how out of all the convicted felons we have in this country who have done this same thing, this one gets the Presidential Seal of Approval. I wonder how many votes for Vick he required his staffers to procure. I guess when you haven't went to prison you don't deserve any props from our President for turning around a whole team, but if you have been in prison and turned yourself around (allegedly) then he deems that worthy of his time. I hope he didn't use my tax quarter to make that phone call.

There is a sad movement in this country by teenage girls to get pregnant so that they can become cool, recognized, and more importantly for them even on Reality TV. Let us hope that the "Let's go to prison so our President thinks we're cool" movement hasn't now begun too. If is has, well, I guess fine honest white, er I mean wise QB's like Bradford, Ryan, Brees, and Rodgers have nothing to look forward to other than winning. Better get to felloning, guys!

S for Sam? Perhaps, but more appropriate would be Slinger, Sacked, and/or Sad. It is sad that our beloved rookie QB has turned into an interception-throwing gun slinger because he doesn't want to get sacked by a four man rush.

Used to be that he would roll out of the pocket and hit one of our own for a fifteen yard pickup on third-and-10, but lately it has been more like hitting their wr, AKA DB, or get sacked, or best yet, actually hit one of our own but for a loss.

Why all the dump-off passes on third and long? Why have Bradford continue to throw 40 times a game? We need a new OC badly before S. Bradford becomes Sidelined or worse - Slaughtered.

So much for Bradford not being of this world. After several bad balls, one returned for a TD by the Saints that killed a hugely needed scoring opportunity, we learned that Sam is indeed Human, one of us after all.

Of course it would have helped if we could have gotten to their QB at all, or if we would have held on to the ball on our opening drive, or if...just if.

Too many ifs lead to too many L's. We need Super Sam back this coming Sunday against the Chiefs or we may be saying "if" all winter long.

The New Colts?

Who would have thought that at week 13 the Rams would have the same 6-6 record as the Indy Colts! A perennial playoff team and Super Bowl contender, the Colts have now regressed behind their once unstoppable-in-the-regular-season QB Peyton Manning.

As Bradford nears the end of his rookie season, he is progressing more than we could have ever imagined and the Rams now have the makings of a perennial playoff team once again. When you compare Bradford's numbers to Elway, Aikman, and Peyton in their rookie seasons, Bradford is blowing the doors off them.

With Sam at the helm, SJ39 at his back, Amendola pimpin' the YAC, and a Defense that is on the brink of the top 5, we are poised to reign the NFC for years to come.

Bing Bong

Every time someone at my store opens the door, the door chime goes "Bing Bong" to alert me that someone has entered. This is exactly what the Rams have done to the NFL - a big loud "BING BONG" - We're here! Once again in first place where they belong, the Rams went into Denver and won where only a handful of visiting teams had won in the last several years. Albeit nearly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, they did finally close out a game that they were leading in the fourth quarter and are now perched at the top with a pallitable 5-6 record.

Chris Long? "BING BONG!" Fred Robbins? BING BONG!" Bradford? "BING BONG BING BONG!" The Rams are here and here to stay. So what if a 7-9 team can win a Division and host a playoff game against a 9-7 or 10-6 team? So what! Can the ugly guy get the hot chick? Can the underdog win on the road? Can a black man be President in this country? Then a frickin sub .500 team can be in the playoffs! We're here and ready to play next week against a sorry, sorry Cardinals team who got a beatdown at home by the Whiners. 6-6? Bing Bong!

Rumblings are going around to can Shurmur and hire Chili for the OC job. Not sure how that would pan out, since he seems to have a thing for pissing off his QB, but it may be worth a shot.

This dink and dunk conservative crap that Shurmur is throwing out there is getting unbearable. If Childress will open up the playbook to use SJ39 more often and take more shots down the field then it could be just what the doctor ordered. Which doctor, I have no idea, but he ordered it.

I say turrible, just turrible that we lost that game. Can't win on the road if our lives depended on it, can't seem to stop normal joe schmoes from tearing us apart, and can't seem to get a good game plan two games in a row. What was with the dink and dunk in the second half? And the PI call on OJ at the end of the game - are you kidding me? OJ had inside position on a horribly thrown ball. If anything it should be Offensive Interference for the receiver knocking the defender down and thus denying an interception. At any rate we had plenty of chances to win the game but as long as we continue to allow TE's to burn us we will continue to lose. Our defense was turrible, our play calling was turrible, and to lose to the frickin whiners is turrible. Wonder what the Falcons will do to us this week.

On the day when the Rams celebrated Isaac Bruce by retiring his number 80, OMG what a game! Sure it was against the Panthers, but they had just put a beatdown on the 49ers the week before and all the experts were expressing awe over their two rookie WR's who had torched the Niner's secondary. So much for that, eh?

Ex Ducks QB Matt Moore had a hard time finding those rookies, as did the entire team in finding the endzone. Our Defense played as brilliantly as it had all year, and Bradford became the first #1-picked QB since the 1969 draft to win 4 of his first 5 home starts. This guy is unbelievable, and although Suh had a monster game yesterday too, he is far and away the best choice we could have made in the draft.

Either player would have been a great addition for us, but without this leader on our team Suh would already be beaten down by being on the field for 50 of the 60 minutes every game. Sam's throws were on target and his overall game play was just incredible.

Going into the bye week we are in sole possession of second place and are primed to take this division. Cards have no QB, Niners have no QB, and Hawks have Hasselbeck. We have Bradford, and the Niners next. Woohoo!

What the hell was that? I guess I lost control of my emotions and was ready to crown us the champs too quickly. This loss reminds me of who our team REALLY is -- a bunch of underachieving overpaid librarians who put on pads every Sunday led by a rookie QB who WILL BE great, but is not yet. To lose to the Lions was ok but to lose to them like that is not ok. How can a bunch of guys pack it in like that after coming so far already? I just don't get it. But that's why I'm not a motivational speaker. I will miss being in first place for a week, and the Chargers will provide us another chance to step up or lay down. Which one will it be?

I stutter as I try to come to the realization that the Rams are in first place and that the Rams are on a two game winning streak and that the Rams have one of the top Defenses in the league. Wha Wha Wha WHAT??? This is amazing. I am finally able to watch without knowing, just knowing that we will find a way to lose. Except for TWO BRUTAL CALLS by the worst official in the NFL this game was a thing of beauty. Even Bradford's pick was ok because he picked himself up and came right back without any angst at all, something that Mr. Bulger could not get rid of even if his life depended on it. Lots of reasons to celebrate and to look forward to next week, and I can't wait.

Watching the UFL's Sacramento Mountain Lions inaugural home game on Saturday night, I knew it was going to be an awesome game for the Rams on Sunday. QB'd by Daunte Culpepper, the Mountain Lions beat Brooks Bollinger and the Florida Tuskers 24-20 on a 33 yd TD pass with 31 seconds to go to WR Rod Windsor. Question - what does that have to do with the Rams winning the game on Sunday? Answer - the guy who got beat on the play was none other than former Rams FOH (friend of Haslett) Fakhir Brown! Haslett is now the DC for the Redskins, and the Rams last home win was on Oct. 10, 2008 against the Cowboys 34-14 - Haslett's debut as our interim HC. Add to that the fact that the Tuskers also employ former Rams Claude Wroten and Aveion Cason and you got the makings of a gut feeling like none other. And from there it became so strong of a feeling that I could feel it in my bones, and my bones do not lie.

What a frickin awesome game! Bradford is on his way to becoming an all-pro, and the defense has pulled together to rank in the top 10 in Tackling Defense, something that had been woefully missing since Mike Jones. Our overall Defense ranking is only #24 but is ahead of BELICHEAT and the CHEATRIOTS!!! Even more amazing is the fact that for the first time in four years we are not in the cellar, and what makes it double special is that the bottom feeders right now are the Whiners.

With Jackson out, the offense seemed to find a better rhythm, with Darby finding the endzone for our first third Quarter TD in years. The WR's had their issues (see Brandon Gibson) but they pulled it together led by Mark Clayton. The whole team is playing as a unit with full confidence in Bradford. This is the best feeling us Rams fans have had for years, and even though it may turn out to be another long year if Bradford tires out from the rigors of the NFL game, we can once again hold our heads high and declare without embarrasment "Yes I'm a Rams fan!" Here's to riding the back of SB8 all the way to SB45.

Usually a loss would be a bad thing but in this case it is, well, ok, so it's a bad thing this time too BUT Bradford looked like the best #1 QB pick since Peyton Manning (1998). And by "pick" I dont mean the three he threw either - those are just what happens in a rookie's first start. Rookie play is expected but his toughness and his arm are just two of his QB strengths that we have been lacking for years.

I was so proud of the team for playing hard and hitting like NFL players, something that was also lacking last year. And to see Chris Long triple teamed - Are You Kidding Me? He is quickly becoming the player he was drafted to be. With him and Laurinaitis at the first two levels and OJ bringing up the rear, our Defense is finally looking like one that we can win with. Can't wait to take on the hapless Raiders next week and get our first victory in a year.

So another Rams preseason WIN and we have now witnessed the best preseason in a looooooooong time. I am excited that Bradford has looked so solid BUT it will be interesting to see how he does against a full-time first-team defense. No more Null so if Sam gets injured then what? Bradford Shoulders the Load

It was great to see Sam get up off the turf every time he had to eat it. And it was great to see him instead of Bulger eating the turf. That bum shoulder of his seems to be just fine, and now all we need is to keep him from going down so many times a game and we should have a great QB for years to come.

So what that he didn't have a TD pass or that he looked like a deer in the headlights, aka Rookie NFL QB - HE IS ONE!!!

If not for him there's no way in H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks that I would even dream of re-upping my Sunday Ticket this year, so I really really want him to start the season and let Feeley just roam the sidelines freeley. Can't be much worse than last year, can it?

NFL Sunday Ticket Just Got Better

Well, not the Ticket actually but the way in which we watch it. Directv has recently rolled out its new service that allows you to watch a show in one room, pause it, and pick it up in another. It also allows for only one DVR to be watched on up to 15 TV's, and if each TV has its own DVR then you can access any DVR from any TV in the house meaning that the recorded viewing capacity in each room in my house just quadrupled.

For Sunday Ticket Subscribers this is a Godsend. Now I can watch Bradford get plowed under anywhere in my house and dont have to record the game on each DVR in order to watch it anywhere in the house. And for a 4 hour time slot recorded in HD this rocks!

The DVR space required for this was tremendous so I only recorded the game in one room and then I was stuck watching it in that room - well no more! So I guess that the Rams will get my share of the Ticket this year too, dangit. It seems like every year at this time I get the resolve NOT to spend $400 on them but then something happens to change that, and here we are again. Hopefully this year it will be worth it.

Isaac Bruce came home to retire as he should. It turned my stomach to see him in Whiner gear, something that never should have happened but for Coach's desire to keep the team winningless. He and Holt formed the best WR tandem in the league IMHO, and it will just be a matter of time before Holt comes back home too, if only for one day also. Bruce will always be #1 in my heart, for putting up with all the unbearable years of bad players and terrible QBs and even worse Coaches. This year we will make him proud and bring something else back to the Gateway - the championship is coming back to St Louis too. YEAH!

I love all the talk about draft grades when none of these guys have even played yet. Bradford was a nice pick, but for my money we should have taken Suh and the look who's there in the second round for us to pick - Jimmy Clausen. Would have been a steal of a draft and worth grading ahead of time then. Now we have about 50% good and 50% not so good staring us in the face and another $400 Sunday Ticket staring me in the face. Wow. For my money i'd just as soon spend that money on bills, so its bye bye Sunday Ticket for this year. I say Yippee to another experimental year of Rams football and will wait anxiously to see who the Rams pick #1 next year.

Why is it that this time of year the stupidest holiday of the year manifests itself at the best event of the year? Of course, if the NFL Draft wasn't always a make-or-break for the Rams it would help too. The past few years have shown that when it comes to the Rams management and drafts they are prone to be fooled more than not. Lauranitis is the ONLY first round player to pay dividends in his first year since SJ39 in 2004, so hopefully we are not in for another 5 year drought. Bradford or Suh, don't trade down, and don't pick anyone from the Ducks. All that should make for a great start to 2010.

Can you feel it blowing yet? The winds of change about to come? Can you feel it blowing against your face, making your heart race in expectation of what follows? Well I can. With the upcoming draft having so many choices, it could be make or break this year. After getting robbed, or should I say held up, by the Patriots in 2001 this team has went downhill like a soapbox racer with a 100 mile an hour tail wind. The time is now to start climbing back up to the ranks of Super Bowl contender, not regular season pretender. Bradford or Tebow will immediately pay dividends, and that is something I feel we need more than anything. Excellent OT and DT come along way more often than Pro Bowl QB's, so I truly hope Coach takes that wind and sweeps up one of those two QB's. Turn that wind into a thunderous roar when our beloved Rams storm through the division next year.

At this time there are 4 players in the mix for the #1 pick: Bradford, Suh, McCoy, and Clausen. REALISTICALLY Suh should be the #1 pick, especially with a QB rich draft class this year, and then try for Tebow if he's there for our #2 pick. PROBABLY the Rams will pick Sam Bradford #1 and get him obliterated in the preseason because of our lack of protection. Then we will be stuck with Bulger, who we will rally around and play good football, until he gets blown up too and then we're back to Keith Null.

Perhaps there is more than 1 win on the horizen next year no matter what QB we have, but if not will it really surprise that many people?

Martz to Bears - Buyers Bewares!

It's really too bad that Martz is no longer in the division, because his offensive scheme would've meant the 49ers would be bad at least one more year. He is going to get Cutler killed with his pass happy attack behind an O-line that stank it up so bad last year that Jay threw a gazillion picks. I forsee Cutler getting sacked 6 times per game and having his career cut short by concussion or blown knee. I hate it when I hear about Martz being the architect of the GSOT - he was made by Warner and Faulk, not the other way around. The Bears should be a balanced team with Forte and Cutler but it just isn't in Mad Mike's blood. Stupid move by a team that did not need a pass first OC.

How nice to see that our beloved Warner made it to the playoffs again while our other beloveds sat at home and watched him torch the Packers for 51 points. Sure he came back to earth after another dome shattering hit against the Saints, but I'd take it. We could make an All-Pro team out of Ex-Rams we have to watch every year at about this time, and it makes me sick. Once in a while it would be nice to actually see someone on our team make a play this time of year. Like that'll happen anytime soon. Oh well - no matter who the Rams take in the draft it will probably end up in the same result anyway, so why even worry about it?

No More Love From This Chump

So now that the season is over I look back on what we had to go through and I honestly think that this is the worst ever. Not only because we went 1-15, but because we were worse than the Lions, Raiders, and Browns, three teams who for years have been the laughing stock of the NFL. Three teams who have new or somewhat new coaches who suck. Three teams with new or almost new QB's who suck. Three teams who are just downright awful and if it hadn't been for beating one of them this year we would be 0-16.

What a frickin disaster. I can't even begin to describe how mad and humiliated I feel right now, but I'll give it a try. I never want to see another football game in my life again, and I am putting all of my Rams stuff up for sale on eBay tomorrow. I am finished with this crap. We pay too much to get back too little, watching a bunch of overpaid humans play like crap while there is so much poverty in this world that could benefit from just 1/1000 of the NFL's annual budget. Guys who break the law repeatedly and we cheer for them. Guys who cheat on their wives and girlfriends and we cheer for them. Guys who have terrible tempers and we cheer for them. Guys who seem to think that they need to make more money in order to take care of their families and cry like babies if they don't get it, and yet we cheer for them when they do get it. Guys who go on TV begging us to give our money for holiday cheer, yet they are the ones with all the money to give. I am tired of it. They will get no more of my money.

We'll see how it all plays out as the offseason progresses, but with my health and the economy taking their toll on my family like they have I really can't say that I'll ever be back to the same level of passion for the NFL that I've known all my life. I will always be a Rams fan, but only so much as it will keep me from ever rooting for anyone else. Goodbye and good riddance to a year and team that just flat out stank!

One more game in this shambles of a season. One more game until my $400 NFL Sunday Ticket becomes a thing of the past, some of the worst money I ever spent. One more game until my world becomes so much easier, so much less stressful, and yet so much more boring. Not sure if I will ever recover from this year -- the up-all-night belching parties after a Sunday filled with fattening foods and mood lightening drinks have taken a toll on my body that may linger for months.

My wife is glad, no, thrilled it is over after next week. She said my attitude sucks during football season, beginning with Sunday afternoons all the way to Thursday nights as a sore pathetic whiny baby and then as the next week begins I shift from that to a stressed out nutjob until Sunday mornings. And while I am watching the games, well, let's just say she has a divorce attorney on standby. Weird how 10 years ago I wasn't like this, she reminds me. That's ok, because I just remind her that 10 years ago I could lift her up.

One more week to go, and then I get to calm down and enjoy life outside of football. Are you ready for some football-less? I sure am!

Decked By the Cards

Unfortunately for the Rams, Pass Interference only applies to teams who have more than one win. The 4th down pass to Avery that could have tied the game (WOULD HAVE!!!) was underthrown but the defender was all over him. At least illegal contact should have been called. But once again the Rams find a way to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.

There is no gaurantee that they would have won even if Avery catches that ball, but at least it would have given them a shot at it. The cards were laid out in our favor, with Warner ailing, Leinart being Leinart, and SJ39 ramming it down their beaks. We could have won. Period. Of course it is not solely the officials' fault that we lost, what with the atrocious play calling AGAIN. But when you are fighting your ass off and get denied because the officials don't want to reward a one-win team, that is atrocious also.

I said it last week - Almost! Undefeated Saints and now first place Cards were almost beaten by us. Hopefully the new coaching staff takes this year and learns from it so that next year these same mistakes won't happen. Defensive minded HC needs a full year to learn how to run an offense too. They'll need to be much more in tune so that the newly drafted QB can learn the right way to play in the NFL.

What a game, eh? I am very proud of this team for outplaying the best team in the NFC for three quarters.

Last two weeks (games) have been much better, and it appears that Spags has this team right where other teams don't want us.

If Bulger-to-Avery can become more consistent, and if Amen-DOH-la can catch BEFORE the run (but what do we really expect from a Texas Tech guy), and if SJ39 can keep ramming it down their throats like we're a first place team, then we will win next week and the next and the next, win out, and win the NFC West. Booyah!

A little more work and a lot more playmaking and we have this division right where we want them. Almost.

Just Another Loss

Last week things seemed to be looking up. The team was playing hard and wanted to win. This week, it stayed that way for three quarters. Bulger can't hit the broad side of a barn with a BB gun sometimes, and when we needed him to step up most he failed miserably. Even on the opening play, the flea flicker to Avery, he under threw it just enough that Avery had to wait for it. If he leads him to it then Avery would still be running. Bartell is awful, and Barron needs to be shelved. Just another Rams draft bust for linemen.

I don't think that anyone really expected us to win Sunday, but Indy gave us plenty of chances. Perhaps they were just toying with us, but still - going into the fourth it was at least a ballgame.

Maybe this coming week against the Lions will be different. IF Bulger can remember to throw it to OUR guys then we just may get the W.

Not Bad

Despite the heartbreaking loss, it was nice to see the team playing hard. Except for Bartell, who couldn't cover my Grandma, it appears that all the players know what they are doing and are wanting to win.

Coach's decision to kick the figgie at end of regulation will be debated for days, but ultimately it ensured that we had a CHANCE to win, as opposed to do-or-die. Unexplained why he didn't opt for one more play with one timeout available, but at least with the FG there was no chance of a pick or fumble. If we go for it and lose, then we slay Coach for not taking the 3. He has the team playing to win and that is all we can ask for at this point. Great strides on Sunday IMHO.

Rush Slayed By Racists

It is a travesty that Rush Limbaugh has been dumped as a prospective owner of the Rams. Why is it that when a White man with lots of money is discriminated against it is OK, but when that same white man speaks the truth about America he is labeled a racist? McNabb IS overrated, and he IS over pressured to succeed as a black QB. It's unfair, but it is the truth. Many people thought it, but because Rush had the balls to say it he is now once again the victim of the most arrogant racists in this country, hell, the world. And their leader? More than Hitler ever dreamed of being. That person is Al Sharpton.

For a self-professed man of God he sure loves to stick his nose right in the middle of politics. He also loves to talk trash about the White race and speaks his mind about whites worse than Rush ever has about blacks. Why is it that he can be called a hero but Rush is called a villain? This latest episode of reverse discrimination against Limbaugh is only the latest in the string of efforts by the non-reverend Sharpton to shut down White America. This IS America, and money talks, well, unless you're white and breath on a black man. It is too bad that after all the progress we have made in this country for all to be equal that the rich white man, aka "The Man" as labeled by racist black America, is being discriminated against at a higher level than any time in history.

I just want an owner who has enough money to buy the talent we need to win. Even Sharpton would be OK, as long as he didn't go with his racist views and fire all the whites in the organization. I highly doubt that Limbaugh would have only drafted white players, only gave whites jobs, or cut all the blacks and replaced them with whites. I thought football was about winning, not whining. Racism out of convenience has to stop, and stop now. And give Limbaugh the same chance that every hard working AMERICAN should have - to succeed no matter what color they are.

What seemed to be a promising season with new coaches, new players, new attitude, and new plays has turned into the same old sorry ass Rams. Too bad Detroit won yesterday, because now we have the longest current losing streak in the NFL. Hopefully with Boller starting we will be more competitive, and if we go out and get Ronald Curry back things could get better quickly. And bench frickin' Barron. THEN maybe we will win.

No Spinning This One

After week one's embarrasing loss, the Rams' coaches told Donnie Avery that spinning is bad, qoute "Spinning equals fumbles. Don't spin!" Avery acknowledged this request to the media and said that he had learned from his beginning-of-the-game-morale-killing fumble and would heed his coaches' advice for week two. No spinning. Well, what do ya know he threw caution and all football sense to the wind and spun - Fummmmbllllllle! After stupid penalties, dropped passes and these lame ass fumbles - and don't credit them to playing hard - I am really glad that we released Curry. Guy is big, has good hands, and doesn't make rookie mistakes.

Oh wait, Avery isn't a rookie? Well then someone needs to tell him that! We gave up Isaac Bruce for Avery's first year, Torry Holt for his second year, and for what? Guy is turning into the Alex Barron of wide outs. Mistake after mistake. Hopefully Spags will see his way to sitting this guy in favor of Keenan Burton next week or we very well may be reliving this same story again.

From GSOT to LSOT

Yesterday's game marked the first time that the Rams played a game without any offensive member of the GSOT. The only remaining player from that team is Leonard Little, who right about now probably wishes that he wasn't. It is amazing that while the offensive players are now gone, this team remains committed to be offensive in its play.

Losing to the Seahags is one thing, but being shut out is another. Granted the officiating was atrocious, but there is no excuse for opening up the season with a fumbled kick return. One thing that I don't understand about that particular play was why in the heck Avery was returning kicks anyway. How many WR's do we have that can play this game at a high enough level that we can afford for Avery to get his head knocked off on the season's first play? NONE! Even though we got the ball right back on the endzone pick, that fumble set the tone for the worst game I can remember. The play calling was awful, the penalties were unbelievable, and the special teams were atrocious. John Carlson? John Carlson? Really?

Next week we go into D.C. to play a 'Skins team that also relies heavily on the TE. Look for another ass whoopin if some major adjustments aren't made before then. New coaches, new players, new playbook, same lame result. If we get another effort like the one Sunday, then we can officially name this team the LSOT - Lamest show on turf.

Now that Favre is coming to town as a Viking in a month or so, it makes me wonder what the future holds for our QB's. With Bulger out and Berlin (who wears Warner's number 13 because he's an f'in idiot) with as much talent as Cloris Leachman, Boller who should be a bowler and Null a rookie, does the F.O. go out and get a decent veteran QB? One that might be available is current Viking reject Tarvaris Jackson, who now looks to be the odd QB out in Minny. Oh wait, that's right - I said decent.

I sure hope that Tarvaris is NOT picked up by our team, because anyone who can't lead Adrian Peterson to the endzone with the box stacked and WR's running free down the field does not belong in St. Louis either. Period. I say stick with what we have, well, except Brock the cock Berlin, because either way we're getting Sam Bradford.

Fantasy Update

So there I was, walking on the beach when this beautiful woman holding a football...

Oops, sorry - wrong fantasy. And even though it would be more exciting then drafting #1 in August, I won't tell you the rest. What I will tell you is that my first pick will be Steven Jackson(unless he's gone, of course). I am going to really miss having Torry on my bench while he gets absolutely NOTHING from Bulger, but maybe this year will be different now that he has his 20 year old legs back with his new team. Yeah right. From a fantasy standpoint I am glad that he is gone, because my loyalty to Rams players in my draft is my ultimate downfall. Now if I can just keep from drafting Marc, I'll be alright.

According to The ESPN TOP 150, SJ is ranked #5 RB and #5 overall, while Marc is all the way down at #277 overall and #28 in QB behind Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Frickin Russell! Donnie Avery is listed at a respectable #107 overall and #38 WR, but is still ranked behind such HOF'ers as MICHEAL CRABTREE and DERRICK MASON! That's right - an overrated rookie and a retired leftover. Ooh, I know - if Bennett signs with the Ravens I can take him, since he'll probably be rated ahead of Avery too. Makes me want to crumple this big stupid list up and go with my gut. And I would if it wasn't so damn big too!

That is the question that I may soon be answering. As I ready my family for our move back to California, family obligations being what they are and all, I am now also faced with a moving dilemma that faces all Rams fans - what to do if Michael Vick moves into Rams Park?

This rumor was circulating earlier in his criminal incarcerated career and I stand now by what I said then - if he moves in, I am moving out. Period. As hard as it seems, I will not stand by idly while the team I love employs a killer of the animal I love the most.

And at such time when he moves out, I will be ready to move back in and retake my spot among the fans of the XGSOT.

Holt a Bolt?

Or a Whiner? Or a Raider? Or how about a Seahag? Whatever the case, he is gone from our team but will never be gone from our memory.

His hands are some of the greatest I have seen and his heart is unquestionable.

The TD he caught in Super Bowl 34 with his shoulder so bad he couldn't even raise his arm so he used his facemask to secure it - AS A ROOKIE - was incredible. His juggling catch against the Hags was one of the best of that year and played over and over on SC.

His leadership will be sorely missed, as will his work ethic.

I can only hope that his replacement will be half as good.

No Faulk, no Warner, no Bruce, and now no Holt, the final piece of the GSOT gone forever. The best foursome in the history of the NFL left us memories that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, so will this year's rendition of the WSOT.

These free agents living in this free country sure cost an awful lot. Amazing how a bum economy will tighten the wallets of NFL owners when it comes to wooing free agents...NOT! WTF?!?!? I can't afford my NFL Sunday TIcket this coming year but the frickin Redskins can give Albert Step-on-your-mug-sworth $100,000,000, the Raiders can give Nnamdi Awesome-uah the richest DB contract ever, Seattle gives TJ You-know-who $40,000,000, and so on. Our own Rams aren't immune from this spending frenzy, franchising Atogwe, resigning Bartell, and giving Jason Brown how much? $37,000,000! It just kills me to see all this money being thrown at human beings who came into this world the same way you and I did, have the same 24 hours in a day we do, and live in the same broke-ass country we do. Perhaps Barack Saddam Hussein Osama Obama will fix it all, or perhaps I will grab a fork and poke out my eye. Either way, somethings gotta happen.

Does It Really Matter?

Ah yes, here it is the slow time of year for football fans yet so much is going on in our Rams world. New coach, new staff, "new" GM, new #2 draft pick, and hopefully new attitude. What remains to be seen is if there will be a new #1 WR. With Torry obviously having lost a step and two stud WR's vying for his spot, it is very possible that the Rams will allow Holt to go, possibly to the Whiners to be reunited with Ike, or possibly to wherever Mad Mike ends up (if he does).

These lean economic times make it hard for me to worry about where Holt will be, especially hard since all the money these guys cry about not making (not specifically Holt) is really insulting to all the hard working men and women of this country who have non anymore. As long as our economy is in the toilet, football just doesn't seem to matter. Now that Bush has been forcefully yet thankfully punted and the new N'Obama regime is taxingly underway, we face another 8 years of governmental ineptitude. Hopefully the Rams won't give us 8 more too.

Every Which Way But Haslett?

Even with all the great prospects I still don't understand why Jim Haslett can't be given the reins to this team and allowed to work through a full season before impaling him. All he did was ignite this team to two mind boggling wins over Washington and Dallas before the players woke up and remembered that they suck no matter who the coach is and tanked it the rest of the way. What a shame that someone who the players want to play for could possibly lose his job so that we can start this whole fiasco over again with a new guy. We know Haslett can coach, and we know he can motivate. And we know the players want him back. So why not? Does 2-14 really matter that much when the teams with the best records in the NFC are home this weekend too? Unless, of course, Rams ownership actually believes that a new guy would win us the Super Bowl next year, then by all means. Get him in here yesterday.

Whatever the case may be, I just hope that whoever the coach is rips the #13 off of Berlin's jersey and shoves it down his throat. What a travesty that someone who isn't even good enough to beat out a 2-14 QB is wearing the number of the greatest QB in St. Louis Rams history. Let him go back to his beloved #7 - a much more fitting comparison.

Rams, Rams Go Away...

Come back another day. Maybe. If they come back next year like they did the last few years, then no - please stay away. If Haslett comes back with them, then yes. When is 2-14 better than 3-13? When the team is playing their asses off. If the players aren't good enough to win, that's just they way it is. But if they are good enough to win and they still don't, then the HC needs to be held accountable. As a whole, this group of players just isn't good enough to win. Don't blame the coach for not getting blood out of a turnip. And just because Mangini got canned at 9-7 doesn't mean that Haslett should at 2-12. That's like saying that Bush should still be president since Castro is.

If Bulger and Holt and Jackson and Avery come back with them, then yes, come back. But if the "new" front office wants to jerk this team around by being politically correct and bringing in a head coach because of what he is instead if who he is, then please, don't come back. And if whoever the coach is can't get the team to win in the preseason, then definitely don't come back.

Was I Scared?

That was the question that my 12 year old son asked me when the fourth quarter began. "No," I said with conviction, "although this is the time when they seem to choke." And then it happened. Again. When Bruce treated Fakhir like a rented mule and beat him for the TD and his 1000th career catch, I let out a rather loud BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE only to have my 8 year old daughter say "I thought you said he doesn't play on the Rams anymore" and my son ask me: "Are you scared now?" I replied: "He doesn't, but he's still one of my favorite players EVER" and "Yes, now I'm scared!"

You're damn right I was scared. I just knew, just knew that it was going to happen, and then when we went three and out I sunk down in my chair and waited for the inevitable. Another pick by Bulger to end a game. Sure the rookie ran the wrong route, the same rookie who made a freakin awesome catch two plays earlier, but Bulger should have never thrown that pass. Hasn't he figured out yet that Torry runs the right routes, not the rookies? He keeps trying to find everyone but Torry when the game is on the line. Whether that is his reads or the play calling I don't know, but either way it just plain sucks. Between Bulger's and Al Saunders' experience you would think that they could come up with something better than all these stupid throws that end games on a pick.

So this week it's off to Atlanta to get the snot ran out of us by Michael Turner and the secondary kicked around by the guy I wanted us to draft, Matt Ryan. And even though I will always root for our team to win, that #2 pick staring us in the face is awful appealing. What to do, what to do...

Punter Gets Punked

I guess that being the second worst team in the entire league means that even the lowly punter doesn't have a shot at a Pro Bowl. This would make sense except for one thing - the worst teams rely on their punter more than any other teams, and with Jones kicking the snot out of the ball every game, why is Feagles going to the Pro Bowl instead of him? Because the league has a love affair with the Giants and the rest of the NFC East. At least Team Obliterator didn't make it. Guess that love only goes so far. But back to Jones. Best punter in the NFL this year, bar none. And what ranking is Feagles? 2, 3, 5, 10? No - 19!!! Nine-frickin-Teen. So let's take the #19 punter instead of the #1 punter. And when you consider that the Lions punter Nick Harris is only ranked 23rd, and the Bungholes punter Kyle Larson is only ranked 42nd, Jones' feat (no pun intended) is amazing. It will be nice when the Pro Bowl goes back to being about the playes and not politics. If it ever does.

Damn, Things Suck!

What a waste of a season. First, the Rams stink as bad as last year, which was hard to do. They are actually, record aside, worse than the Lions at this point. At least the Lions are making teams work to beat them. Second, my fantasy sucked so bad this year that I am kicking myself for pulling a Favre and coming out of fantasy retirement during training camp. The only thing that would make this season great for me now would be for Kurt to lead the Cardinals to a Super Bowl victory and get MVP. Not that I care about the Cardinals, just that all of my Warner memorabilia could really use the boost!

NBA comes to NFL

Yep. At least that's the way it appears to me. For the third week in a row, the Rams have made like Sir Charles and provided the rebound for a team that got annihilated the week before they played us. It is obvious why this is - we are the second worst team in football and until we play the Lions will remain as such. Since that won't happen this year, all signs point to the second pick in the draft and hopes of "Better luck next year."

Until the Rams get some help for Bulger, he will continue to get the snot beat out of him, will continue to make bad decisions just so he can escape being tattooed, and will end this season as his worst. Still, he is the best QB we have and although he has played into his nickname of Marc Booger, should remain the starter until his contract is up. Get him some help and he will return to Pro Bowl form. And if he just happens to get hurt, I truly hope that the few fans in attendance will not cheer as the Brownies' fans did yesterday when Anderson went down.

Montana, Young, and...Hill?

Last week I predicted that Shaun Hill would have a monster game, and although it was not as monster-ish as I thought it would be, he did not disappoint. Or maybe yes he did, to us Rams fans anyway. A Whiner QB with a rating of over 142.3 is bad enough, but a perfect first half rating of 158.3 is absolutely atrocious. This had NEVER been done by a Whiner QB, ever, not even Joe. The next closest was in 1997 by Steve Young @ 156.5 against the Saints. The KNBR 680 radio announcer for the Whiners said it best, "A whole season worth of scoring in one half." He has cemented his name into the Whiner's record books at our expense. How great is that? Martz, Bruce, and the 2008 Whiners. Makes me want to puke.

This was a numbing display by the Rams, and if it weren't for fantasy football there would be no reason to even worry about this season anymore. It is no wonder that the NFL Sunday Ticket does not give refunds after the season has started. The Rams' front office should.

NFL Does it Again

This week the NFL rescinded Randy Moss' $20K fine for verbally abusing the officials after their game two week ago. This is just another favor done to this team that further proves the NFL's unwillingness to punish them. Sure they lost a first round draft pick last year after Belicheat got caught, but they had two first round picks and it wasn't their high pick, which would really have sent the message. And after the Pats went a whole game at home in week 7 against us without one penalty, and the Chargers screaming that the Cheatriots get all the calls at home (and most on the road for that matter), it is my guess that we will see them in the Super Bowl again this year. And that is really just too bad.

Character

Talk about kicking a guy when he's finally gettin back up! The next few weeks are going to be a testament to this team's character, to see if they can live up to the hype thrown upon them after two stunning victories against Dallas and Washington.

It was said that Haslett had inspired this team, and we were all looking for a comeback, a win over the Cards, and a run at the division title. Not only has this been derailed after Sunday's spanking by Warner, but the Rams will now have to contend with possibly starting unknown running back Kenneth Darby for the upcoming game, and possibly games. Darby right now is the team’s only healthy running back and could be the starter Sunday when the Rams play the Jets on the road. Steven Jackson, Antonio Pittman, and Travis Minor are a toss up this point. Coach said that if Jackson can't give a full week's practice then he won't play. In addition, Hall and Bennett have been placed on injured reserve, and Draft has a fractured right foot and is week-to-week, although it's the same thing Bennet had so this is probaby the last we've seen of Draft this year too.

The season started out terrible, turned great in a heartbeat, and is now back down to earth. Let's just hope the character of our guys didn't come back with it.

Sidenote: Is this a stab at Bennett? Coach said that even though Draft's injured ankle is the same thing Bennett has, he would expect to see Draft back in there within two to three weeks, "Because that's the kind of kid he is." WOW! If that isn't throwing it back in Bennett's grill then I don't know what is. It will be interesting to see if he responds to this and exactly how long Draft will actually be out.

NFL Not Color Blind After All

The lame ass rule called the Rooney Rule has for the moment cost Jim Haslett his job next season. Even with Sunday's loss, the Rams have a very good shot at winning the necessary 4 games needed to satisfy the "6 wins and you're in" guarantee for Haslett to get the HC position for next season. For some reason, the fact that Haslett has lit a fire under the team's butt and inspired glorious wins over the two supposed best teams in the NFC holds no weight in this HC job consideration. Or the fact that he has restored a feeling of confidence in the players and acts like he is the HC, garnering the respect of the players. Nope, that doesn't matter either. You know what matters? The fact that he's white. And because of THAT REASON ONLY, he's screwed.

Don't for one minute think that I'm off base here. According to Terry Bradshaw of the O.T. on Fox after the Steelers/Giants was over, 49ers interim HC Mike Singletary will have no problem getting his job made permanent because of the Rooney Rule. So Haslett, who was 2-0 as interim HC when his contract was voided, can't get hired based on his performance because he's white, but an 0-2 Singletary can get hired because he's not white? WHAT? WTF is that? In this age where a black QB can get a respected white man fired from his job for calling him black, it is now alright to say that a great HC candidate can't get hired because he's white? This is the epitome of Reverse Discrimination, and is absolutely atrocious. In an NFL world where the majority of players are black, we now need for the majority of coaches to be black too?

Now don't get me wrong, I AM NOT A RACIST, and I am all for equal opportunity. But for EVERY color. And I am also all for the best man for the job to get the frickin job no matter what his color is. And now that the Rams have been told that the best man for the job can't get the job because of his color, it makes me wonder if there is any job that a white person will ever get based on his qualifications. And the fact that if it was the other way around there would be a huge uproar from the NAACP and the loud-mouthed self-proclaimed reverends Sharpton and Jackson, it makes me wonder where the white voices are now. Is everyone so afraid of speaking out for white equality that this will go unchallenged?

Perhaps the idea of equal opportunity only applies to non-whites. Whatever the case is, this obvious display of racial discrimination against Haslett just further proves that there can never be true equality in the sports world. By being pro-Rooney, the NFL has solidified itself as anti-White. And it's really too bad that the NFL is so biased against the white minority in football. As Donovon McNabb put it so self-servingly, "I thought we were beyond all this." Well, Donovon, we are beyond it - unless you're white.

One More Before the Road

YEAH! What a win baby. Kicked the Cowboys ass and then some. I absolutely loved it each time the camera panned over to show Team Obliterator scratching his dome wondering "What in the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is going on around here?" Finally a win to get the sports world talking about the Rams instead of the NFC East. WRONG! I hate the media - all day long it was What's wrong with the Cowboys - this, What's wrong with the Cowboys - that, and NOTHING about us. It was all the Cowboys fault for losing, not ours for winning. I am sick of America's love affair with the frickin Cowboys and am stoked that we beat them and left them crying like a fugly 17 year old girl on prom night. When that botched snap went past Johnson, I immediately had visions of the the last time and caught myself uttering an "Oh No! Not again!" But what a difference a fiery coach makes. If this type of play continues from our team, the playoffs are ours for the taking.

So now it's off to New England, who is already favored by 4.5 points before they even play tonite. I can't really understand this point of view, but that's the media. We'll leave them shaking their heads next week too.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Looks like the "Saints" Louis Rams got off to a good start by beating up on the so-called best team in the NFC. Interim coach Haslett is 1/6 of the way closer to losing the interim title, and the Rams are now only 3 wins away from officially having a better season than last year. There is lots to give thanks for after that awesome victory, so here's some of my thanks to the winners:

*Thanks to Marc Bulger for finally stepping up in the pocket and hitting a meaningful deep ball.
*Thanks to Dante Hall for finally fielding a punt instead of staring at it like a ram in the headlights.
*Thanks to Richie "Not So" Incognito for showing some fire and not letting another team treat us like girls. Now he just needs to learn to pick his spots.
*Thanks to our Defense for showing up and getting some well earned turnovers and finally actually scoring on one.
*Thanks to Tony Romo for breaking his pinkie and missing next week's game. I still have nightmares of the unmentionable play; and
*THANKS TO ALL THE "FANS" WHO PICKED AGAINST THE RAMS IN THEIR FOOTBALL POOLS - YOUR DISLOYALTY AND UNFAITHFULNESS HAS FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH YOU!

The victory did leave me with one question though: Since #5 Texas can jump to #1 by beating then-#1 Oklahoma, shouldn't the Rams now be considered the best team in the NFC since they basically did the same thing? The answer - It doesn't matter. To the true fan, they will always be #1.

That Was a Close One

Well, for about 3/4 of the game. Unfortunately for Trent Green lovers, he reverted to Brock Berlin form and threw a devestating pick that ended any confidence and momentum the Rams had. Also unfortunately for Mrs. Linecrap, her tears after the last two games meant nothing to the people who matter and her husband can now join her in the mornings crying over what should have been done last year. Oh well. Life's a bitch, and then you die. I'll leave the other part of that equation out.

Fortunately for Rams Nation, all is not lost now that Haslett has taken over and has said he will try to turn this thing around. What the hell else was he gonna say? Jeez. Let's just hope that he turns it around 180 degrees and not 360. For a man who said on Monday that he just found out at 2:00 am yesterday: Hey Haslett - 2:00 AM the day you find out is today, not yesterday. Guess he's so in tune with things around Rams Park that he can't even remember what day it is. But at least he remembers who the REAL starting QB should be. Oh wait - that guy is in Arizona. So Bulger gets his job back now by default and we will rally around Marc Bulger and we will...win?

Another BS Sighting

Actually, there haven't been any Brock "I Couldn't Carry Warner's Jock" Berlin sightings this regular season, and hopefuly there won't be, what with him being the 3rd string QB after barely making the roster. So what, pray tell, would the other BS sighting I refer to be? Could I be referring to the Rams' offensive juggernaut, er, I mean jugger-NOT? Or perhaps the Rams' defensive prowess, er, I mean prow-LESS? What about the lack of seats that had seats in them for the home opener, so empty that a much needed move back to LA should be right around the corner? Or how about the fact that a record number of Rams "fans" are selling out their own team in football pools? Kinda makes you wonder who they're really rooting for on gameday, doesn't it? But alas, with all this stuff to write about, I must step outside the box and for the first time address in this forum one of my reader's well thought out comments. Comments that are, yup, you guessed it, this week's BS sighting.

In case you missed it, I told it like it is a few weeks ago regarding Berlin wearing the number 13. You know, how his crappy career and useless spot on the Rams roster should be more than enough to prevent him from wearing Kurt's number 13. So instead of providing any kind of constructive input, like say, I don't know, an answer to my question of why Berlin chose #13 when his number of choice is the available #7 (see stats in previous blog), this clown decides to attack me personally. So in response to this girl's lack of Midol in a time of need, here it is here:

1) I did NOT say that Kurt Warner is the greatest QB in Ram's history. What I said so clearly and understandably that even Helen Keller would've understood it was that he is the greatest QB in ST LOUIS Rams history. I specifically made it a point to put that in there because I knew that if I didn't some SJD who wishes he was Berlin's love slave would see this as an opportunity to jump all over me for leaving out the pre-STL Rams' greats. So much for that!

2) I did not say that Bulger is my $65 million wonderboy. In words so plain that even Ray Charles would've been able to read them, I specifically wrote of how pissed off I was that Bulger played worse than the Raider's #1 pick, ShaMarcus Russell. And that was it on Bulger. So forget trying to find the answer to why Berlin chose #13 this year for the first time in his delustrous career, how about the answer to how being pissed off that Bulger played worse than DuhMarcus Russell makes him my wonderboy. I know, I know.

3) And finally, since I'd rather spend more time watching "The View" than waste on this, well, waste, I don't live in St. Louis, have never lived in St. Louis, and will never live in St. Louis. Hence the wiseless cracks of "so keep drinking your Busch beer" and then some lame thing about cheetos mean nothing to me. So now in the words of the great Forrest Gump, "That's all I've got ta say 'bout that."

What's All This Fuss About?

All the negative talk in Rams Nation is really perplexing. Last year we went what, 3-13? So in order to improve on that we only need to go 4-12. It's the same principal stores and car stealerships use when they say they are the cheapest around, or have the best deals. Legally speaking, they only need to beat the competition by $.01 to make that claim. So for the Rams to have an improved season, they only need 4 wins.

To get to 4 wins doesn't require that they win the first game. Or the second, or the third. As long as they average 1 victory per month, that's 4-12. Ok, so it's not much of an improvement and we would all love to get to the Super Bowl. THAT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN!

Why not allow yourself to be content with even the littlest bit of improvement? We all learned last year, thanks to the New England Cheatriots, that even an 18-0 season is a failure if you don't win the big one. In the grand scheme of things, whether the Rams go 4-12 or 17-1, it's all failure. So take some Valium and drink it down with Jose. Do whatever it takes to calm down and appreciate that Steven Jackson got his f'n helmet knocked off on an illegal, unflagged helmet-to-helmet hit and then bounced right back up like it was a mosquito bite. Chris Long had two nice tackles and a few pressures on McNabb, and Alex Barron had only one of the frickin 6 false starts. We know the other 5 will work themselves out, so if we only get his one per game that will be fine with me.

0-1 isn't so bad. There are 15 more games and the Hags, Cards, and Whiners all suck way more than we do. Don't give up hope, for 4-12 may just win the division. Now that's two improvements I'd take any day!

Warner Sighting? More Like a BS Sighting!

Yup. Just like I said last week, the first team offense didn't score. And not only didn't they score, they looked like shit, even helping the other team to score instead, on a pick. So much for team cohesiveness. So much for forgetting last year and putting it all behind them and moving forward and all that crap. I am seriously pissed. I am pissed that Bulger wasn't even as good on Saturday as JaMarcus, LaMarcus, DaMarcus, TaMarcus Russell, whatever his name is. I am pissed that Carriker and Long looked like my gramma. And I'm pissed that they gave up 340 freakin rushing yards to no name RB's...AGAIN!!!!

But most of all, I am pissed that the greatest QB in St Louis Rams history is being insulted and degraded by Brock Berlin. I know the Rams haven't retired #13 yet, but that doesn't mean that they should let just anyone wear it. For a guy who changes numbers more than I change my underwear, why #13? He was #9 at Florida, then #7 at Florida, #7 at Miami Hurricanes, then #8 at the Dolphins, back to #7 at the Hamburg Sea Devils, then #7 back at the Dolphins, then #3 last year for the Rams. And now this year another number, KURT'S NUMBER FOREVER, #13! Nowhere in the previously stated number circus do we see a #13, so why take it now? Is there a #3 on the Rams roster this year? Yes, it's first year player for the Rams, K Josh Brown, who could have taken a different number. But no, Mr. Number Changer wanted to change again. So lets see...what number from the above circus does Berlin covet the most? #7. And is there a #7 on this year's roster? NO!!!!! It was his for the takin. Did he? I repeat - NO!!!!

It is a travesty of the worst kind that #13 is being worn by this chump who was the BACKUP to Rex Grossman at Florida, then after defecting to the Hurricanes the BACKUP to Ken Dorsey, then after Dorsey left he had to fight for his job with the great Derrick Crudup, and once in the NFL - UNDRAFTED - couldn't even keep the job as the QB for the frickin Dolphins. And how did he fare in NFL Europe? In 2006, there were 5 QB's with better ratings than him (with more than 100 pass attempts), and I'm sure you'll recognize them as future HOF'ers:

2. Drew Henson, 84.2

3. Craig Ochs, 83.6

4. Lang Campbell, 83.5

5. Kliff Kingsbury, 73.7

6. Brock Berlin, 68.4

So where in his bullshit career does he qualify to wear #13? Nowhere. Give the number back to the Rams and let it stay there. Otherwise, this is one Rams fan who will be pissed off all year long no matter how well it turns out.

Same Ol' Situation

So here it is, the season right around the corner, and whadda ya know - injuries and holdouts making training camp a joke. Will it be another preseason of no offensive td's until the last game? Will Steven Jackson realize that by holding out on a contract the HE agreed to he is mocking his ridicule of the fans who sold their tickets to the highest bidder last year? Will the new offense come to life or will it stall under Scott Linehan's lame duck status?

All these questions will be answered very shortly, and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. I for one am sick and tired of the injuries to these athletes who are supposed to be the greatest athletes in the world, and the holdouts by the guys who are already making more money than the GNP of some entire countries. If the guys can't stay healthy then fire the trainer and conditioning coach, and if they can't stay happy with MILLIONS of dollars a year then suspend them for the season.

I have been a Rams fan and overall football fan for 28 years but if this crap doesn't stop I may not make it through my 29th. $400 for NFL Sunday Ticket? Bunch of crap. $500 for tickets to one game for the whole family? Let's see - pay the mortgage or go to the game? Bullshit! It's a travesty that these decisions have to even be made. I sure hope it stops soon, because my life without football will be sooooo boring. But until then...

More Long

Some "experts" are still questioning this pick over Dorsey, but my take on Chris Long is that he will have an immediate impact. He's had a hall of fame dad work with him his whole life, and what kid doesn't want to outdo his own father? He has a great motor and is an advanced pass rusher, unlike most kids who come straight out college knowing nothing about how to truly rush the QB.

On the other hand, being from such a highly skilled background is going to put tremendous pressure on him to prove not only to us but to his dad that he belongs in the NFL and was worth the #2 pick. I for one think that he will respond to this pressure in a hugely positive way.

His worth will be tested right off, since he will have plenty of opportunities to not only get to the QB but also to stop the run. My guess is that we will be behind at the end of games for most of the first half of the season and we will be looking uphill at these teams as they steamroll their running game at us. There will be a pressing need for Little to return to his pass rushing form so that Long can concentrate on the rush. And with Carriker there to help out with both, hopefully the results will be much better than last year's debacle.

New Rules - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good - Clubs will be financially liable for players' violations and suspensions. This is an excellent rule because it now brings some balance to what has become a highly prejudicial campaign by Roger Goddell. He has continually failed to bring any REAL punishment to the non-player personnel, i.e coaches and owners, while throwing the book at the players for even the slightest infractions. Hopefully this will also make it more difficult for those players who even in High School are known as trouble makers to drug-deal their way through school just so they can be rewarded by multi million dollar contracts in the NFL. Come draft day, these losers can be sitting at home smoking crack with their homies while they watch the draft instead of sitting at home smoking crack with their homies after being drafted. And maybe, just maybe, the next time Belicheat gets caught doing something illegal he'll get in REAL trouble. Yeah right! And if frogs could fly, they wouldn't bump their butts when they landed.

The BAD and the Ugly - Damn, it feels even better now NOT to be a Californian. The worst rule in the history of, well, history, goes into effect June 17th in California. And Tango Makes Three? Not when two of 'em are dead! What's that saying, "The world is going to Hell in a hand basket" or something like that? I now know what that means. And I know 10 families that are now moving out of that cesspool. Here's to a much better brand of life in Oregon staying that way!

Howie's Son isn't Our Boy

To start off I must say "Kudos" to Patti for covering for me last time...again. I was extremely sick and failed in my attempt to muster up anything for your reading pleasure. Patti has a whole bunch on her plate and my health doesn't help, so to her goes a big giant "Thanks!"

The draft last month scared the crap out of me because there were so many ways to go and none of the ways were flat out #2 pick material. In my last article I stated that I would be happy with either of the Longs or Matt Ryan, and no one else. By the time the draft rolled around, Jake was gone so for me it was down to Chris or Matt. And let me just say...WHEW! That was a close one. With all the talk of Glenn "No Motor" Dorsey possibly being the pick, I was riveted (well, about as riveted as one can be while feeling like death) to the Tivo for those 10 fateful minutes that seemed like hours until the name that I needed to hear was called out. And then I passed out.

Out of all the reasons for the Rams to make this pick, this one was the most obvious for me - character. Not that Dorsey doesn't have it, but from what I have heard about Chris, character is one thing we won't have to worry about. Now he may prove just the opposite, but the late night stripper parties and the gun toting "rat-a-tat-tat, I never hesitate to put a ****** on his back" entourage bumpin' the afore quoted Snoop or Jay-Z at 3 in the morning just doesn't seem to fit with Chris' upbringing or livelihood. And after he BLEW by Alex "False Start" Barron in minicamp this week, it would appear that his abilities on the field are just as good. Now THAT's hard to find nowadays. You either have the awesome athlete -- in prison, or the great natured hard working guy who couldn't make a tackle if his career depended on it. With Chris we have the best of both scenarios: Not in prison, not on his way to prison, not on his way to hanging out with the guys who used to be in prison or who are on their way to prison, no, he's just on his way to the quarterback, the Ram's record books, the NFL record books, and the HOF.

No, Howie's son isn't our boy, he's our MAN! And to think I was going to cancel my Sunday Ticket this year. Hope he makes the $400 worth it!

Can you feel that draft?

And no, I'm not talking about the remaining wind left over from my last attempt at a post. I am very excited about this year's draft, simply because it would appear that we can't miss on this one. No Jimmy Kennedy out there for us to pick, or for that matter an Alex Baaaaaaron. Only the two best Longs since Chris' dad, and a Ryan who could easily be picked if not for our medical staff having full confidence that Bulger's "head, shoulder, knees, and toes" are all fine and dandy. I myself am not so sure about his ability to play a full season anymore, but perhaps with the addition of a few good men on the O-Line, he won't take such a beating this year. Then again, with only one legit WR to throw to, maybe we'll draft some WR named, uh, Limas, or we could just hand off to Steven Jackson on every play next season. At any rate, the outcome of this thing should be favorable no matter who we pick, and I can't wait to hear all the draft gurus slobbering over us for a change. There is another reason I feel like the choice should be between the two Longs and Ryan, but since it is not a politically correct one, I will leave it alone for now. Let's just say I don't see any legal troubles on their horizon...

Brain Fart

Mo Money, Mo Problems

Aw, the wonders of a college town on spring break! For some reason I feel like the meaning of life will present itself soon...

Anyhoo, with the NFL draft coming up, NBA basketball in full swing, the Big Dance a day away (GO DUCKS!), and MLB Opening Day just a week away, this is a very exciting time for sports fans world over. And as I watched the Bosox nearly boycott a game because of coach compensation issues, I could only sit and wonder what it would be like if they really had no money, you know, like me. The money being floated around in professional sports is appalling, and so is the poverty that has the whole world in it's unrelenting grasp. It is amazing that while the sports icons continue to sign record contracts, normal people are getting booted out of their homes, their jobs, and their health insurance.

Why not stop giving more money to sports and address the financial crisis that is about to throw us into the biggest recession since, well, the recession? And instead of the FED injecting billions of dollars into the stock market, why not shoot it into the veins of the schools, hospitals, and child, senior and disabled services that need it so much more than some rich jerk who might lose his third home in Maui if his investments go south? Why not make the oil companies give back their record profits in the form of deep cuts at the pump, thus allowing the common folk to have more money for other necessities in life? Why not? Because the rich are in charge of everything, and until that changes, they will continue to have more money while the rest of us have more problems.

So much for a FREE country.

The Bruce is Loose

Well, I guess the Rams front office doesn't read my blogs after all. Isaac Bruce is now a Whiner, and yes, they will still be referred to as the Whiners even with Ike on their team. This is going to present a difficult decision for me when they play us. I will be rooting for us, of course, but what about when (no, not IF) Bruce catches a toe-touch TD to beat us? Will I be true to my team, or be true to my heart? I suppose that with time it will get easier, as it did with my Whiner friends after the departure of Jerry Rice, but I will never stop watching and being amazed by the player who bears my son's middle name. I hope that the first time we play them he burns us for 200 yds and 3 td's. As long as we win, of course. Which, if the Free Agency shut out continues, will be a struggle. Of course they went out and replaced the retired Wilkins with another clutch kicker, but the real question is..can he tackle?

Just Say No

Just a few weeks ago I addressed the issue of Isaac Bruce possibly being released and I again reiterate that this would be a stupid move. Why release a player who is going to be sucked up almost immediately by another team so he can come into your house and kick your ass in the playoffs? Not only has he said it but has also shown it that he has plenty left in the tank AND his heart to continue playing at the HOF level he has displayed for so many years. Not only that, but we really need his moral compass on this team to counteract all the self-serving debauched mentalities of the new age players. Who knows who we will draft this year (well, except for three more tight ends) but in the event we get a WR or two, who better to team with Torry to school them than Ike? And if cutting him is for cap reasons, how about Bennett and McMichael give some of their money up instead? I say "No way!" to Isaac going away.

That sack by Alford was frickin' sick. When he blew Brady up I went nuts. I don't think I've ever been so excited over a non-Rams sack in my life. What a game. Tyree's catch was incredible even though the media is making Eli seem like the hero of that play, and how in the world the Choke-riots let Plax go one-on-one with Hobbs is beyond me. Sure they were throwing an all out blitz on that play, but it only works if your team isn't made up of geriatrics ward patients.

I still hate the Giants, but man they were incredible (I refuse to say "awesome" - everyone says that word and I am sick of it). It is amazing what a team can accomplish when they concentrate. I kept expecting to see a flag and hear "False Start, number 70 on the offense" but thankfully for them Alex Barron plays for us. NOT ONE FALSE START ON THE G-MEN!!! At least two on the Cheaters, and what happens? That's right. It's not hard to figure out, Linehan. Cut or trade Barron NOW! Get us some guys on offense who not only wait for the snap before leaving their stance but also protect our QB, and get us some guys on defense who can rush their frickin QB. Period. The rest will take care of itself.

Greatest SB in history? Of course not, but man it was awesome.

Golfweek and the Noose

Today it was announced that the Vice President and Editor of Golfweek Magazine was FIRED for putting a picture of a noose on the cover of this week's release. Now I know this is a football forum, but it is the offseason, golf IS a sport, and this is an issue that affects us all. Here's why.

This country is built on faith, a faith that thrives on imagery. Everywhere you look there is someone or something venerating the cross - people walking around with a cross around their necks, or a cross on a bumper sticker, or worshipping at a place with crosses all over the walls, behind the pulpit, and even on the priest's clothing. This man-made holy symbol of devotion to the LORD, this idol that is so prevalently and proudly displayed by all professed Christians, is something that they actually worship to honor God.

Now before you get upset at me, let me tell you that I am a Christian and this is not and will not be a religious blog or one bashing religious beliefs or freedoms. But what this post will do is use this imagery to expose how screwed up our values are in what has now become one of the most HYPOCRITICAL issues we have ever witnessed. What it does have to do with is a noose. I have no idea how many blacks were actually hung from a tree, or if it is more than the black ages where anyone who spoke out against anything, no matter what color they were, were hung, or if it can come close to the number of people Hitler executed by means way worse than a noose, but what I do know is that all of this combined does not even come close to the worst lynching of all time, and that is the SON OF GOD BEING HUNG ON A CROSS.

Once again, I stress that I am not bashing veneration of the cross here. I am only using it as a comparison to illustrate the sheer stupidity of the uproar over this magazine cover. Why is it that around the world people are united as one displaying pictures of the method used to kill Jesus but when it comes to displaying a picture of what mere mortals died upon it leads to the whole country being divided, a man losing his job, and discussions of what some people are calling "racism and hatred in it's worst form?" How many people in the South do you think are upset about this noose incident? Considering that the South is predominantly black, then it's probably a huge majority. Now how many of these are Baptists, most notably Southern Baptists? Probably most of them. And if you know Southern Baptists, you know they LOVE displaying the cross. It is so typical of people to think they can do and say what they want when it comes to religion, but a white man display a picture of a noose on the cover of a free speech publication? "OMG! Oh no he dinn't!"

How do you think it makes the LORD feel when people are more upset about an image like this than one of what HE was killed on? I once thought of it like this - If your child was killed by a gun, would you walk around with a gun pendant hanging around your neck? Would you have pictures of the NRA on your wall? How pissed off would you be if you saw someone worshipping a gun? But more importantly, how many of you would even dream of having pictures of a noose on your wall? Hopefully none of you.

So really then - it's ONLY a noose! What does the cross represent? The lynching of Jesus. Was the editor of Newsweek fired for putting a cross on the cover? NO! Move on, people, and let it go. Only when we put more emphasis on pleasing our Creator than we do on pleasing humans will we ever be truly united as a community, a country and as a World.

Going, Going.....Gone?

Who would ever suspect that with the firings of coaches and the resignations of others that we would have to worry about where Isaac Bruce will be next year. I cannot believe that the Rams front office is going to put him, and us, through this again. Two years ago it took us all by surprise when he was released as a "salary cap casualty" but thankfully was then re-signed almost immediately. If this happens again I don't know if we will be so lucky this time. What if he doesn't come back? What if he reacts like any other sane person would and gets so pissed off that he flips Shaw the finger and goes somewhere else? Are we prepared for this? I know I'm not. And if this happens, I am pretty sure that he won't be the only one doing it. With fan morale as low as it is, this could be the proverbial camel.

I know that times change and all that, but this would be hard to take. We had to grieve when Kurt was let go, when Marshall's injuries took him away for good, and now if Bruce goes it will officially end the GSOT. Never again will it be matched. I don't care how many points the Vikings put up in 1998 and that we fell 17 points shy of breaking their record, or that the Patriots (cheaters) just shattered it on the way to 16-0. Nothing will ever come close to what our team did in 1999-2000.

So is this it for Bruce? Only time will tell. Hopefully we'll see #80 lining up in Rams colors next season, but if not, let me be the first one to say a farewell................

And finally its over! With the number two draft pick at stake, the Rams didn't let up in their relentless pursuit of mediocrity and put another stinker out on the field with a resounding defeat to Kurt Warner and the Cards.

Yes, as I sat and watched the events of the day unfold I could only wonder what would have been if.....Alright! Let's just stop right there. If! What the hell is that? I along with many others have been making excuses all year due to the massive onslaught of injuries to plague this team, but yesterday proved that under this stupid ass coach we will never win.

Once again the play calling in crucial situations was atrocious. How about on third and long and fourth and long going to Ike or Torry? But no-ooooooo. Let's try again for the second week in a row to hit Looker or Bennett. Now I don't know what happened to Bennett, but at Tennessee he was the MAN! He was not only one of my favorite non-Ram players but also one of my favorite fantasy receivers. This year - hands of butter. That TD he dropped on Sunday was frickin stupid. And to continue to try to hit him on third or fourth down situations is a decision that Coach needs to be strung up for. To begin the game Torry was targeted often while Jackson was given a good share of the plays too.

But then it's like a light went off in Coach's head, and by "off" I mean "out." The whole rest of the game he seemed like he was on ludes or something. No fire or drive to get the guys to play hard. And with the group of misfits they had left, motivation was something they were sincerely lacking. He needs to go and go fast. Can you say "Mariucci?"

The end result of this game was exactly what I expected but the end result of this season was exactly NOT what I expected. Hopefully next year will be better, beginning with the draft of a TE or bust DL.

Great! I wonder if there's any room for me on the Patriots' bandwagon? NOT! I beg all of us Planeteers and Pagers to bury our heads in Rams 'lore and not just pray but BEG the LORD for a Patriots loss (like he really gives a crap about football, but some people think he does), or we will be forced to watch ESPN PatriotsCenter and Patriots Live for a long, long time. It's bad enough already as it is, I don't know if I can handle much more of it. Here's to next year us going 16-0 and stomping on Belicheat's parade.

Best Christmas Cookies Ever!

1 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.

Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the frigging fruit off floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.

Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to bean off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

That's Just Me

I am so pissed off right now I could squirt! What a travesty that the three Rams fans in attendance didn't take it upon themselves to kick the crap out of the people IN THE FRONT ROWS who had the Packers signs up. I would have ripped those signs down and then gotten the "Lambeau South" jerkoffs and the "Rams Hunting Season" assholes kicked out for trying to stop me. But that's just me.

You think that for one minute I would have gotten away with putting up a Rams sign like that at the Raiders for a PRESEASON game? No frickin way. I'd a been jumped like a red headed stepchild and then taken out on a stretcher. It's a disgrace and is completely unacceptable that the season ticket holders sold out like they did. Maybe its because I am not a PSL holder, or that living out here on the NFC Worst, er West, Coast I would have given anything to see the game in person, but I just can't fathom giving up a ticket for such a monumental game and ESPECIALLY TO THE VISITING TEAM! But that's just me. If not to see the Rams but at least to see Favre and watch him break Marino's record - I mean, who wouldn't want to see it in person? Well, except for about 60,000 Rams "fans" who didn't show up.

Just keep it up, because I would love for them to come back to LA, where it's only a $100 flight instead of a $1200 one for me to see them. I have been a season ticket holder for seven years now - Sunday Ticket season ticket holder, that is - and refused to allow my oldest son's friend who is a Packers fan to come over and watch with us. But that's just me. And at $300 for the season, I really could've used his $20.

I love the Rams whether they win or lose, whether they play ugly or play pretty, whether I have to pay $300 a season to see them in HD or $3000 a season to see them in person. I would never sell out like that. But...that's just me.

Just Another Measly Sunday

Well that was fun. I really don't have too much to say about this game other than it turned out to be alot closer than I thought it would be. What with Brock "Don't call me Dieter" Berlin (Yeah, I know, it's a stretch) at the helm and after what happened last week at the hands of the Hall of Famer Chris Redman, I thought it would be the worst loss of the season. But alas, once again this team surprises me. It appears that the Defense has finally figured out how to play within Haslett's scheme and do some hurtin'; it's just too bad that at the same time the offense has figured out how to hurt itself more. One can only imagine what next week will be like when Favre comes a callin'. And in my best Forrest Gump voice I proudly say "and that's all I got to say 'bout that." For now...

The Fast and the Tankiest

When looking at the schedule before the season started, I had this one chalked up to an easy victory. No Vick and no Schaub, piece of cake, right? Well what do ya know - Another game where we jumped out to a sizable early lead and then had to hang on for dear life at the end.

Sunday’s game against the Falcons was the fifth straight game in which the Rams had a double-digit lead, with this win being only the third out of that five. How our offense can come out on fire and look so awesome and then just completely tank in the second half is mind boggling to me.

When the offense died (again) after going up 14-0 to begin the game (again) and it began to look like it was “OH NO” all over again, I almost decided to turn it off and go with my wife to her underwater basket-weaving class. Almost. This team really pisses me off, and I don’t know if it’s all coaching or execution or what, but if at least one of the coaches doesn’t get executed after this year then we will be in for another long season in 2008.

I hear a lot of talk about canning Linehan and promoting Haslett, but it is really hard to execute a successful game plan when you have 17 different O-Line units in just 12 games. That is truly unbelievable. And considering that one of those left standing was Steussie, who hadn’t played at all until last week (Browns), I tend to once again give Coach a mulligan on almost blowing this one. Too many injuries TO STARTERS, too many dropped passes, missed tackles, and dropped Int’s this season make it difficult to know how to judge this team fairly. But hey, if they want fair then just win, baby! If they want fair then get out there and kick ass on a team who has a QB that hadn’t thrown a TD pass since 2002 and wasn’t even in the league last year. Instead we make him look like the second coming of Kurt Warner. Thank goodness it’s a dog-eat-dog world and Vick is wearing milkbone underwear or this one may have left us staring at 2-10. Here’s hoping Carson Palmer doesn’t put up 500 and 6 on us.

Now I would like to address Steven Jackson’s pregame comments about the fans needing to whoop it up a bit more and get into it. How about shuttin’ your mouth and giving us a reason to believe that when you jump out to an early lead you will win? I wanted sooooo badly to get excited Sunday but I knew, I just knew that it wouldn’t last. And I was right. So until you can hold a lead and actually do something with it, Steven, just shut up and play. And remember that your team is 3-9, not 9-3.

On a side note, the way the Patriots won last night was sickening. Gaffney did not have control of that pass, and there is no way in hell that the Ravens get that call. And that defensive holding penalty right before that, even Steve Young said how ironic it was, since "the Patriots have been raping and pilaging tight ends for years" but getting away with it. This season is enough to make me want to walk away from Football altogether, not just the Rams. I almost literally don't care to watch it anymore. I hate Belicheat and Brady more than Sauerkraut on Spumoni ice cream. And that's pretty frickin gross! But here I'll be next week, just as pissed off about something else that goes wrong and more than happy to tell you about it. Hopefully it won't involve THE BESTEST TEAM IN THE WHOLE WORLD, THE ST LOUIS RAMS!

Man was that a close one. Thank goodness. Now all this nonsense about the Rams making a miraculous comeback by running the table to go 8-8 and win the NFC Worst can stop. I was going crazy thinking that could happen. And when the final play on Sunday resulted in a Frerotte gaff, I looked at my son and said "Yep. I knew it. That is so typical. Way to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. JERKS!!!!" I wouldn't be surprised, Bulger healthy or not, if we lose out and finish 2-14. Sunday's loss has to be so demoralizing, when a 2-8 team actually has a chance to beat the first place team and continue on its quest for the division title and then WHAMMO! just like that a total reversal.

How typical was it that Special Teams took a nap after Jackson's 53 yard TD run? We had a HUGE momemtum advantage and just like that it was gone. Then we get an Isaac Bruce TD, go into halftime with the lead, and in typical Rams fashion that's all she wrote. Nothing in the second half. Nada. Zilch. Outscored by the Hags a season total of 40-3 in the second half. Hard to win games when you tank like that.

Is it just me and my hatred for the Hags or am I justified in saying that the Replay Booth screwed up royally on that last drive? When Frerotte snuck the first down at the 5 and then the upstairs guys decided to review it, why in the hell didn't they turn around three plays later and review Jackson's run when he stretched the ball out over the goal line? So quick to do a review that could have taken a first down away from us but not one that could have given us a winning TD. Typical.

To quote one of my favorite movie lines of all time, "Game over man, Game over!" Injuries are to blame, sure, but the frickin play calling was atrocious when it needed to be deadly. And it was deadly alright, just against the wrong team. Typical.

Great loss by a great losing team. Our team. My team.

On a side note, Jeff Wilkins PAT in the first Quarter moved him past Mark Moseley for 21st on the all time list.

Ugly and the Beast

Sunday’s 13-9 victory over the Whiners was not what I expected. When they came out firing on the first drive and scored a touchdown, I said to my son “we could score huge today, and I think I’m gonna win all my fantasy leagues this week.” Whoa! Slow down. Not so fast, big fella. Whatever it was that the Rams had in them for that drive suddenly went away and the rest of the game was ugly IMHO. At least it ended in a win, a win that had the Rams almost snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory once again this season.

There were several positives and quite a few milestones that this game produced, and even though you are probably aware of most of them, I now list some of them for your viewing pleasure:

· Having started this season with 498 franchise victories, the Rams have finally posted their 500th win, something that only five other teams in the history of the National Football League have ever done.

· Claiming their first win in San Francisco since 2004, Sunday’s contest was the 116th of what used to be an unparalleled West Coast rivalry.

· The Rams are no longer all by themselves in the NFC Worst cellar. The Whiners now know how it feels to lose eight in a row and are now tied with the Rams at the bottom at 2-8. There is a bad element to this win for the Rams, however, as each win takes them farther down the draft board.

· On the opening drive that ended in the 50th+ TD hookup for Bulger and Holt, Bulger hit Isaac Bruce on a 15 yard pass that moved Bruce past ex-Rams receiver and current Rams receivers coach Henry Ellard into sixth place on the NFL's career list with 13,778 reception yards. Although Ike ended the game with only 54 total yards he also catapulted past Cris Carter (13,940) for 20th place on the League’s all-time scrimmage yards list, now standing at 13,967. His overall stats right now: sixth on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards list, seventh on the NFL’s all time receptions list, 17th on the NFL’s all time touchdown reception list and 20th on the NFL’s all time scrimmage yards list. He is one of only nine receivers to have accumulated 13,000 receiving yards and is now the Rams all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

· Bulger was 27 for 33 passing, resulting in a career high completion percentage of 81.8. His passer rating of 125.0 was his best since last year's game against the Redskins on Xmas Eve.

· The Rams did something they have not been able to do in recent years — rely on their defense…and it worked! Frank Gore was virtually invisible, grinding out a mere 32 yards on 15 carries. This was the 10th time this year that the Rams haven’t given up a 100 yard rushing game to a RB. THAT’S ALL SEASON! 10 backs did it last year, with Gore doing it twice, going off for 127 and 134.

· Jeff Wilkins extended his streak of successful PATs to 358. This is the second longest streak in the league and is 13 short of tying the NFL record set by Denver’s Jason Elam from 1993-2002.

· Turnovers – ZERO! Zero in their two wins, resulting in a +4 turnover ratio in them. I see a pattern developing here…

One of my favorite sayings is that I would rather look bad and win than look good and lose. While I’d love to see a "look good and win" game every week, Sunday’s ugly victory will do just fine. Now if we can only get 6 more. So what if we’re the ugliest team to make the playoffs – that just means there will be a whole of pretty teams sittin’ at home watching. Who ever said being ugly can’t be beautiful?

Oh When The Rams Come Marching In!

YES!!!!! To answer the question of my colleague, we can all say "Hallelujah." What a win, eh, against the team many thought would run the table the rest of the season. The late meltdown withstanding, it was awesome to see our team clicking and running like we know they can. Marc to Rev Ike, Marc to Holt, Marc to Bennett, Marc to......McMichael? YES! Jackson stretching it out over the goal line and......throwing it over the goal line too? YES! Pittman showing his game against the team who took him in the draft when we wanted him? YES! Not too shabby for a winless team that had only scored 19 points on the road coming in. Still, at 1-8 even Bulger says they "are a bad team" and until a few more wins come their way, his statement qualifies as appropriate. As excited as I am right now, the fact that at any moment Bulger can take another rib shattering hit or that Jackson can plant and his groin pop leaves me feeling reserved in my optimism too. But after yesterday's outstanding performance it would appear that the ship is on the way to being righted; and with the Whiners on the horizon, 2-8 is highly probable. In this weak ass division, 8-8 can take it and we're 1/8th of the way there. YES!

What could be worse than 0-8? Well, let me tell you. My love of football and the Rams runs as deep as all of yours, but I find it more than disturbing, yes, indeed very troubling that as I brought up my home page a few minutes ago I noticed all kinds of news on the Packers win, the new deal by Romo, basketball signings, Halloween stuff, and other miscellaneous crap but nothing anymore about the wildfires in San Diego or the nearly 1,000,000 people displaced by them. These fires are still not over, there have been almost 2,000 homes destroyed, and from what I could find on various search engines, around 5 people dead. All the emphasis on sports just doesn't seem justified right now, and it amazes me that I actually had to search for information on the fires because of all the other non relevant stuff taking its place. 0-8 don't mean squat compared to what these poor people are going through. Sure, we will remember 0-8 twenty years from now, but the families impacted by these fires will not only be remembering them in twenty years but will also still be feeling them, breathing them, tasting them, living them, and re-living them. As of yet, no one I know personally has suffered anything more than the discomfort of being displaced, but for all of those people who lost a lifetime of memories in a second's time I wish them all peace from God and a swift recovery in this time of real need.

For this week's article, I am back from the DL but still needing a little help from my friends. Please feel free to Ram Lib as you go along:

What the ____ is going on here? 0 and _____ 7? This is the worst start in 70 years and ___ ____, I have just about had it up to here with it. JUST ABOUT! I will not abandon my team like all those other _____ ______ ______ so called fair-weather fans out there. Not the team, the players, the _____ coach either. They're all safe in my book. The 0-7 record is only a by product of the _____ injuries this team has had. Sure, I know, there are plenty of other teams that have been hit by the injury bug, and their coaches are saying "No excuses," but not our team, baby! No way. We have a ton of _____ excuses, and they are all legit. As incredible as it seems, the Rams are still not out of it thanks to the terrible, terrible NFC Worst. Cleveland is totally beatable next week and after that a Bye and then it's undefeated for the rest of this ____ ___ season. No more _____ injuries and no more _____ losses. __ I love this medication!

Now, as for my injury, I was doing some forestry conservation work (no, not work release!) and blew out another _____ disk in my low back. I will attempt to continue my writing but am looking at another _____ back surgery and may be out for a few. Last time I was able to use my laptop and the hospital room's phone for dial-up and may be able to do so again, but that remains to be seen. Whatever the case, I will continue to dig down deep to get to the bottom to stay on top. Now where did I put my helmet?

Well, I guess my excitement for week 5 was a bit much, eh? Of course, and I hate to say this, when you throw in terrible, terrible officiating you have no chance. "Now What" is becoming so overused for this season that I won't say it again. Well, after this time...Now What?!?!? I don't know if I can take this any longer. Paying $300 to watch the Rams lose in High Definition was not what I bargained for. So it's on to Baltimore and the hapless, totally beatable Ravens. Guess that means another loss. And I'll be watching, in HD. Gotta love them cheerleaders. Yeah!

I'm flippin pissed off and totally embarrased, and this is the first losing Monday in a long long time that I couldn't bear to wear a Rams jersey. My blood pressure rises every time my phone rings because I know it is one of my hater friends just calling to get me back. So what now? I'll tell ya - GET GEARED UP FOR NEXT WEEK, BABY!!! Week 4 is over so let's move on to week 5 against the Cardinals. It is very possible that we will be facing Kurt for an extended period of time in this game and I can't wait to see him and Fitzgerald try to eat up our secondary. Warner is no Romo in the pocket and their O-Line is almost as bad as ours, so it should be a great contest regardless of who QB's either team. Week 5 is in six days and I'm already ready. Are you?

No Ricky, Please

With Ricky Williams applying for reinstatement, Linehan has went on record as saying he would entertain having him on the team. I know that most of the injuries this year for our team have hog-tied the Coach and we should all cut him some slack, but if he does indeed go get Ricky then I think he should immediately be fired. Signing him would be the worst move for this team right now at a time when O-Line is decimated. Unless Ricky has grown taller, bulked up from the munchies, and learned how to play Left Tackle, he will be of no use. Even if Steven Jackson does not play for the rest of the season (hypothesizing, of course) we have no use for him.

With the morale of the team obviously at an all time low, bringing in an underachieving pothead would be a travesty. Unless his time with Buddha or Muhammed or whoever he is worshipping this year has made him a changed man, we need to stay far far away from him and focus on trading one of our 18 tight ends for a lineman. After witnessing a total cake walk for Romo because his protection was so good, there should be no doubt in the Rams front office of what needs to be done here. We'll see how long it takes for that to happen - hopefully before Frerotte gets killed too.

Frerotte to Leonard - Who Knew?

As I get ready to address all the Internet debate regarding the benching of Bulger in favor of Gus "Use him before he rots" Frerotte and of firing Linehan (which out of the two, I think that letting Gus start next week is the best and most viable option), across the wire comes news that Steven Jackson will be out AT LEAST one game with a partial left groin tear. This leads to two separate but similar dilemmas:

First - Without Jackson, there is now no way in hell that Bulger should get benched, because his leadership will be needed more now than ever. Gus could definitely step in and play, but Bulger possesses the leadership that this team is going to need to overcome what is now the most banged-up offense since the OJ murder (allegedly) trial.

Second - There is no way in hell that you let Bulger play, because with Jackson out, the blocking that has been so hit-and-miss will now be all but extinct. I know SJ sometimes blocks like one of the Golden Girls but at least he knows the schemes and has experience in picking up the blitz. So without him, that leaves...who? And with Marc already nursing two broken ribs, no way does his $65 Million dollar body need to take anymore abuse. Let the $2 Million dollar man do it. This team can rally around Gus and Brian and make things happen just like they did when Trent Green went down.

So after all is said and done, I say stick Gus in there and let him rip, or it might just be R.I.P. Bulger.

Rams Tied For First

AS I jumped into the air yelling, “It’s good, it’s good!,” I suddenly landed with a thud that was considerably louder than the one made by the ball grazing the front of the crossbar. “Nooooooo! Noooooooo! Noooo-hooo-hooo-hoooooo.”

So it went at my house on Sunday after Wilkie’s kick provided the grand sendoff to an 0-2 start. Not exactly what I expected when I threw on my new Jackson Pro Bowl Jersey, grabbed my football, and yelled “Oh yeah baby. Best day of the week right here!” NOT!!! Well, unless you’re a WHINER fan. Who’d a thunk it? The Whiners in first place after two weeks at 2-0? No way. Huh-uh. Nada. Not gonna happen. Except that it just has, and the Rams are at the bottom of the heap all alone. Or are they...?

Overall standings, we have SF at 2-0, the Cards at 1-1 thanks to a thrilling victory over the Hags on Sunday, followed by them Hags also at 1-1. However, division-wise, the Rams are only 0-1, the Hags are 0-1, the Cards are 1-1, and the Whiners are 2-0. We still play the Cards twice, the Hags twice, and the Whiners once more. Let’s keep assuming that the Whiners suck so therefore there is no way that they will continue this lucky streak, and it is truly a lucky one. They will not be in the division race at the end of the season, so their record does not matter and we’ll just forget about them. The Cards are also ahead of us at 1-1 division, but they too are no threat in the overall picture so we will forget about them also. That leaves the two best teams in the division, the Rams and the Hags, tied for first at 0-1. That’s right – TIED FOR FIRST! There is a still long way to go in this 16 game season and I am NOT going to turn my back on my most loved team in the whole entire universe. Yes they made me cry yesterday, but then again so did my wife, and I ain’t gettin’ rid of either of ‘em!

So now it’s on to Tampa Bay, Opie Garcia, and “P.O.N.T.I.A.C.” Williams. Here’s to win #1.
